School Production Camp
The School Production camp was held in July at the CYC building in Collins Street.
The venue is well situated and has large rehearsal rooms so the cast can practice their choreography, singing and acting, and there's also breakout rooms so the crew have a separate space for painting and set design.
Before each day started, we attended an invigorating yoga class to get us hyped up and ready for the day. While the cast were intensely rehearsing, half of the crew stayed at the venue to work on painting signs and making paper mâché hamburgers, the other half went out to explore the city to source props, costumes and decorations. We visited Melbourne's oldest wig shop and learnt how to correctly wear and style a wig. We visited discount shops, retro clothing stores and op shops, we explored the wonderful laneways of the CBD, took advantage of the free trams, and even had time to visit the ACME Museum.
As a group, we attended our own private cinema at the Crown Complex to watch the Broadway Musical 42nd Street, which included popcorn and a choc top! But the highlight was seeing Disney's production of Beauty and the Beast at Her Majesty's Theatre, such an amazing experience for all of us.
