Term Three is a busy and exciting time for the library, with plenty of events and activities for students to enjoy.

On Friday 21st August, the winners of the 2026 Children’s Book of the Year Awards will be announced. Over the past few months, students have enjoyed listening to the shortlisted books during their library sessions and are eagerly awaiting the announcement of this year's winners.

The announcement also marks the beginning of Book Week celebrations in schools and libraries across Australia. At Essendon North Primary School, Book Week will be celebrated with a range of classroom activities, book discussions, and lunchtime craft sessions in the library. The festivities will conclude with our annual Book Week Dress-Up Day on Friday 28th August. We look forward to seeing everyone's wonderful book-inspired costumes!

The celebrations continue with our annual Book Fair, hosted by the library in the gym foyer from 1st - 4th September. Supplied by Scholastic Australia, the Book Fair is a mobile pop-up bookshop featuring hundreds of quality fiction, non-fiction, and activity books for all ages. Every purchase helps support our school, with proceeds earning free books and resources for our library and whole-school literacy program.

Finally, the 2026 Premiers' Reading Challenge concludes on 4th September. We congratulate all students who have participated and encourage everyone to complete and record their reading before the challenge closes.
