Welcome back to Term Three! We have had a fantastic start to the new term, with students enthusiastically returning to Mandarin lessons and exploring new language and cultural learning through a variety of engaging activities.

Foundation students have been revising Chinese numbers through games and interactive activities. Students have enjoyed strengthening their number recognition by playing a domino game using Chinese numbers, helping to build confidence while learning through play.

Year One students have been revising Chinese numbers from 1 to 10. Through a range of speaking, listening and classroom games, students have been practising counting, recognising and saying numbers accurately while reinforcing their prior learning.

Year Two students have begun exploring one of China's most iconic animals - the Giant Panda. Students have learnt the Chinese names for different parts of a panda's body and used this vocabulary to identify and describe the features of these unique animals through fun, hands-on activities.

Year Three students have started learning the days of the week in Mandarin. Students have practised saying, recognising and sequencing each day while participating in games and activities that help them use this new vocabulary in meaningful ways.

Year Four students have been revising colours in Mandarin and strengthening their confidence in recognising, saying and writing colour words. Through creative activities, students have refreshed their language knowledge while preparing for more complex language learning later this term.

Year Five students have begun an exciting new unit exploring the diverse habitats of animals found in China. Students have learnt about different environments across China and investigated how animals adapt and survive in these habitats. This learning will form the foundation for creating their own animal habitat dioramas later this term.

Year Six students have started investigating the fascinating structure of Chinese characters by learning about radicals and character components. Students have explored that Chinese characters are built from meaningful parts and how recognising these components can support both reading and writing Chinese.

We are looking forward to another exciting term of learning as students continue to build their Mandarin language skills while discovering more about Chinese culture through engaging and creative classroom experiences.
