Term Three Inquiry
We have just started our new Unit of Inquiry, ‘Living Things Have Observable Features’, and students are already enjoying learning about the amazing world of plants!
We began the unit with a fantastic class discussion to discover what we already know about plants. Students shared their prior knowledge, asked thoughtful questions, and came up with some excellent wonderings that we will investigate together throughout the term.
Our learning so far has focused on the different parts of a plant. We have discovered that plants grow from seeds and have important parts including roots, stems, leaves, and flowers, with each part playing a special role in helping the plant grow. Our Foundies enjoyed creating colourful plant diagrams and carefully labelling each part to show what they have learned.
Next week, we are excited to plant our very own seeds in the classroom. We can't wait to care for them, watch them grow over the coming weeks, and observe the life cycle of a plant firsthand. It will be a wonderful opportunity for the students to connect their classroom learning with real-life experiences.
