News from the Rowing Sheds

Mr Andrew Pinelli, Rowing Coordinator

School’s Regatta 1

We had a very enjoyable School's Regatta at Lake Barrington on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November. It was a huge weekend, with SMC represented in over 80 crews. For many of our rowers, it was their first formal regatta, which created much excitement. It was also the first regatta where our rowers debuted their new SMC rowing hoodies (pictured above). All of our rowers performed extremely well, delivering many promising results throughout the event.

New Norfolk mini quad regatta

This weekend, our junior rowers will head to New Norfolk for an informal quad regatta. This event provides another opportunity to practice race technique, gain experience on the water, and allows coaches to trial different crew combinations.

Club Regatta 4

Just before school finishes, our senior rowers will return to Lake Barrington for Club Regatta 4. This is the last competitive racing before the moratorium.

It has been a great start to our rowing season, with many pleasing results. Our rowers will enjoy a well-deserved break over Christmas before training resumes in early January. Thank you to all of our amazing parent/carer volunteers and coaches for their efforts so far this season.
