Exam Block Begins – Friday, Week 8

The Year 11 Exam Block commences on Friday of Week 8, marking the most significant assessment period of the Preliminary HSC year. Students should be reviewing the exam timetable carefully and keeping across all notifications as they are released.

These exams require students to be prepared, calm, and organised. Over the next few weeks, classes will focus on finishing content and purposeful revision, so attendance and engagement are essential.

To support strong preparation, students are encouraged to:

• Plan ahead — map out revision sessions for each subject and break tasks into manageable chunks.
• Stay calm and focused — use healthy routines such as sleep, hydration, movement, and short breaks.
• Revise actively — practise past papers, summarise notes, and test understanding regularly.
• Ask questions — check in with teachers for clarification or guidance.

A steady, organised approach now will make a meaningful difference when exams begin.

2027 Student Leadership Process

Thank you to all students who have applied for 2027 Student Leadership positions. We have been impressed by the enthusiasm, courage, and commitment shown throughout the application process.

Peer and Staff votes were released this week, and interviews will take place in Week 7. We look forward to announcing the 2027 Leadership Team toward the end of term.

Students are reminded that leadership is not only about formal roles — it is also about everyday leadership, showing initiative, supporting peers, and contributing positively to our community.

Important Reminders for Students:

Uniform Expectations

Full winter uniform is required until the end of term. This includes:

• Blazers worn to and from school each day
• Winter shirts
• Boys must be clean shaven daily
• Girls must ensure their skirt reaches the knee

Maintaining high standards of presentation reflects pride in our College community.

Staying in Class

All students must remain in their timetabled class during study periods. Some students have been attending the Learning Centre instead — this is not permitted. Remaining in class ensures supervision, consistency, and access to teacher support.

Attendance

Daily attendance is essential for learning, wellbeing, and senior success. The Sydney Catholic Schools Attendance Policy highlights that consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic achievement and post‑school pathways.

Students below 90% attendance will receive letters home, and some families will be invited to meetings to develop Attendance Improvement Plans in line with SCS expectations.

Coming Soon – Year 12 Retreat

Thank you to families who have already provided consent for the Year 12 Overnight Retreat at Canyonleigh on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October (Week 2, Term 4).

If you have not yet given consent, please do so via Compass. This retreat is a valuable opportunity for students to come together, build community, and begin Year 12 with purpose and unity. We are very much looking forward to sharing this experience with the cohort.
