Respectful Behaviour Towards All Staff – A Non‑Negotiable College Expectation

At St Aloysius College, respect is not just an aspiration—it is a daily practice that shapes how we learn, interact and contribute to our community. Every staff member, whether a classroom teacher, office administrator, groundskeeper, learning support officer or auxiliary staff member, plays a vital role in ensuring our College runs smoothly and remains a safe, welcoming environment for all. This is the St Aloysius Way. 

Students are reminded that St Aloysius is our staff’s workplace. Just as students deserve to feel safe, supported and respected at school, staff have the right to come to work each day without experiencing rudeness, hostility or dismissive behaviour. Speaking politely, listening attentively and responding appropriately are basic expectations that uphold the dignity of every person in our community.

Respectful behaviour includes using courteous language, following instructions calmly, and engaging with staff in a way that reflects maturity and consideration. This applies in classrooms, the playground, the office, the library, specialist rooms, and during all College events. Whether asking a question, seeking assistance or responding to guidance, students must communicate in a manner that is kind, measured and appropriate.

In line with our College values, students are also expected to follow fair and reasonable requests from staff the first time they are given. These requests are made to support learning, maintain safety, uphold College expectations and ensure the smooth running of the school day. When students respond positively, they demonstrate responsibility, cooperation and respect—qualities that strengthen our community and reflect the St Aloysius Way.

By committing to respectful behaviour and responding appropriately to staff directions, students help create a school environment where everyone feels valued, safe and able to do their best work. This is how we build a culture of respect—together.

Literacy Week Celebration – A Wonderful Success

Literacy Week at St Aloysius College was a vibrant celebration of imagination, creativity and the joy that reading brings to our community. Across the week, students engaged in activities that highlighted the power of stories to inspire, connect and broaden our understanding of the world.

A heartfelt thank you to all our families for their generous donations of good‑quality books. Your kindness helped us raise over $550 for the Catholic Education Fund, ensuring that the gift of reading continues to support those in need. This contribution reflects the strong spirit of service and compassion that defines our College community.

Friday’s Dress‑Up Day brought an extra burst of colour and excitement, with students and staff embracing the fun of becoming their favourite book characters. The creativity on display was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so many students stepping into the world of literature with enthusiasm and confidence.

A special congratulations to Dom Sawyer and Samuel Hull, who were awarded Best Dressed for their standout costumes. Both students received a Book Blind Date prize and a canteen voucher in recognition of their effort and imagination.

Thank you to our dedicated teachers for fostering a love of reading, and to our students for embracing Literacy Week with such positivity and spirit. Together, we continue to build a strong reading culture that enriches learning and strengthens wellbeing across the College.

Uniform Reminder – Winter Requirements

As we continue through the winter uniform period, students are reminded that long‑sleeve shirts are compulsory. This is the trade‑off for the comfort and flexibility of wearing shorts and untucked shirts during the summer uniform months, and it ensures a consistent, neat presentation across the College. The College blazer must also be worn to and from school each morning.

Students must also ensure that tracksuit pants are official St Aloysius College uniform. Non‑College tracksuit pants, branded sportswear or alternate styles are not permitted. Noone will shortly have a straight‑leg tracksuit pant option available for purchase, providing families with an additional approved choice.
