Duke of Edinburgh Student-Led Fundraiser – Paws for a Cause Day

As part of the Duke of Edinburgh program, students complete a period of volunteering to contribute to their local community. From this experience, three Year 9 students, Jade, Tameeka and Evelyn took the initiative to design and run their own fundraising project in support of the Cat Protection Society in Greensborough. Their leadership, teamwork and compassion perfectly represent the values at the heart of the Duke of Ed Award, and we are incredibly proud of their effort and dedication.

On 5 December, the students hosted Paws for a Cause Day at Viewbank College. Staff and students were encouraged to wear a splash of blue and bring a gold coin donation, with additional contributions of unused cat bedding and toys welcomed in the lead-up to the event.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, the fundraiser was a wonderful success. A total of $526 was raised, alongside a collection of donated goods that will directly support the feeding, cleaning, medication and rehoming of cats at the Cat Protection Society. As a non-profit organisation, the Society will benefit greatly from the support provided.
