A Year In Review

2025 has been an incredible year for Sport at Viewbank College. We have had students represent the college across a range of sports and continued to be an absolute powerhouse in our division.

We have had 43 different teams represent the College at the Northern Metro Regional level and 8 teams at the state level.

Our Year 7 students have made a strong impression this year, with 3 out of the 8 state teams being made up from our Year 7 cohort.

The real standout sport this year was our swimming team! With 32 athletes competing at the NMR swimming carnival and a massive 19 reaching the state competition. Big congratulations to Millie Charlton who came 1st in the 14 butterfly, and 3nd in the 100m Open butterfly!

Following this massive success, we had 5 students represent the college at state cross country, with Declan Loecx coming in 1st (again!).

In Netball, the Year 8 Girls team have made the state finals after a harrowing double overtime win against Sacred Heart College, Kyneton.

Whilst at State Finals, the girls were recipients of the SSV Spirit of Sport Award, which is adjudicated to those who display, Respect, Integrity, Leadership and love of the sport.

In the world of Track and Field, Viewbank had 26 students qualify for the Northern Metro Regional Athletics event on September 10th. Overall, 19 individual medals, 1 team medal in the 4x100m relay and 4 students qualified for State Track and Field early Term 4.

I would like to congratulate students on their efforts despite the near freezing wind on the day.

I would also like to give a big shoutout to all the student-coaches that have dedicated their time and efforts to sharing their knowledge and helping to lead younger students reach their athletic potential and embrace the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.
