Year 7I Cyber Security Educational Escape Room Experience
Thursday, 13th of November, Ms Byron and Ms Reynolds boarded a bus with the Year 7 class heading out for an adventure at Quantum. Amongst other things, they were locked in a room with students from other schools and had to use their creativity and logic to escape the cyber security threat! They also learnt about the latest scamming techniques! They also cracked codes!
Did they make it?
Well they did get back to school so all went well.
Here is what they said:
Dhruv: I really enjoyed the Sneaky Cyphers activity. It was really fun.
Alan: I learnt about phishing in emails and texts and how different things worked.
Aarush: I enjoyed the fishy phishing the most as the puzzles were challenging but not too hard.
Johan: I enjoyed the password reset and leant to be careful what you click and share.
Ryan: The puzzles challenged me as I worked with my team mates to solve them.
Tom: I really enjoyed the part where we had to find one person’s personal information.
Ari: At Quantum I learnt about EXIF data attached to images that can be used to track you! My favourite session was the Password Panic activity …you learnt how scammers can use publicly available data to find personal information.
Bavan: every puzzle made me think in some way!
Ryan: I enjoyed the wet room activity, Sneaky Ciphers. It was fun doing challenges with Ari.
Sithroo: I learnt about metadata. And I got all 3 challenges.
Callum: I liked fishy phishing the best.
Claire: I learnt how to work effectively with people I don’t know and how to be patient. It was fun!
Ashley: my favourite activity was cracking codes. It was fun and I enjoyed challenging myself to try something new.
Indigo: I learnt about staying safe while using technology and coming up with a password that I could remember!
Toby: I really enjoyed the first activity where we had to solve a cipher-based puzzle. It was very satisfying when we figured it out.
