The Trivia Night event certainly demonstrated how much can be achieved - and how much FUN can be had - when the school and wider community get together!
First and foremost, this was a night to enjoy getting together, quizzing hard and enjoying each other's company. Parents, carers, friends, staff and even ex-students gathered to make it a night to remember. There was a lot of noise and laughter in the room, although every now and again you could hear some good-natured, competitive banter over the top of it! There was a a wonderful community vibe!
Quiz Master Adrian Threlfall, ably assisted by Tracey Talko, ran the trivia rounds with aplomb - never missing a beat, while Year 10 students, Ash Berry and Marlow Parberry made a special appearance toprovide intrigue in the Music Round, playing music snippets for the punters to guess. And the Year 11 Food Studies students truly outdid themselves this year, with the Parent's Association funding the faculty to producea dessert table to die for! Parents and carers were left in no doubt that their Food Studies Subject Fees are used to ensure that our students have the very best ingredients to work with and are learning some amazing skills under the excellent tutelage of staff Olivia Cruse, Esta Ganci and Gillian Weaver! Acting Principal, Shane Gemmola, hosted games and volunteered at the Bar alongside old hands, Ed Berry and Peter Parberry, while Assistant Principal, Sally Goss and parent Mel Pagliaro were on hand to help at the drop of a hat. All in all, it was a fabulous team effort.
On behalf of the Brunswick Secondary College Parents’ Association, we thank the many, many, many local businesses who donated goods and services to the Trivia Night Silent Auction. Without this support, where would we be? We encourage our families to repay this generosity in kind - support the businesses that support your children - and don't forget to tell them why you are doing so - that way the sponsors will know how much we appreciate them.
We are thrilled to share that the combined efforts of donors, attendees and all who bid on our Silent Auction have resulted in Trivia Night raising over $18000
this year! A whopping amount that will see the Parent's Association assisting with school projects in the future.
This incredible result wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our community and we are deeply grateful for everyone's contribution - those who donated items, those who sourced donations, those who donated their time with set-up and pack-down, the many students who helped out, and of course those parents, carers and friends who bought a ticket and attended the event.
All funds raised will be reinvested into our school grounds and outdoor learning spaces, as well as minor projects aimed at creating better opportunities and experiences that our children and community can enjoy for years to come.
