The Winner(s) Take It All!

Timothy Roach
Director
What an incredible we have been on over the past few months to bring Mamma Mia! to life! I could not be prouder of our cast, crew, and band – every student involved demonstrated remarkable talent, dedication and teamwork, and the joy they brought to the stage was contagious.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the staff members on the Production team (staff Candice Egan, Laura Hughes, Nathan Fistric, Lindsay Owen, Darren Wicks and friend of the company, Laura Zalesiak) without whom we could not have put together a show of the scale and quality that we did. Their time, expertise, and energy truly make the school production possible. Thanks to our wider school community, whose encouragement and support is also so vital. Thank you to those who volunteered their time to assist and supervise. We are especially grateful to our audiences: with every performance selling out, your support created an electric atmosphere that our students really appreciated.
We can’t wait to build on this success. The 2026 school production will be announced later this year – and if Mamma Mia! is anything to go by, you won’t want to miss it!

Mamma Mia! What a sweet musical! It was one of the most exciting and memorable experiences of my school life. Playing the sleazy Pepper allowed me to step into a completely different character and truly learn how to become someone else on stage. Mamma Mia has given me a lot of friendships, and made a loud “Pepper” out of a quiet “kid” like me! I also developed self-confidence, teamwork skills, and the ability to adapt quickly when things don’t go as planned. For me I think EVERYONE should 1000% apply for next year’s production because it’s not just about acting or singing—it’s about growing as a person, learning new skills, true feelings revealing and making memories you’ll never forget. In the last, I have to thank our amazing teachers! Thank you all for your guidance, patience, and support!

This was my very first school production, and I feel so lucky that it was Mamma Mia! I was a bit nervous at first, but everyone was really welcoming, and I quickly felt part of it all. Being in the ensemble gave me the chance to sing, dance, and act on stage, which was such a fun challenge. I learned a lot from the older students and made so many new friends. Performing in front of a sold-out audience was amazing - I’ll never forget it!

Being part of the backstage crew for Mamma Mia! has been such a great way to finish my time at Brunswick. I’ve loved working behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly. It was amazing to see how all the little details we worked on in the lead up to the show helped bring the story to life onstage. The backstage crew teaches so much about teamwork, responsibility, and staying calm under pressure, and I’m so proud of what the whole cast and crew achieved together.

Mamma Mia! was such an exciting experience. I’ve loved being on stage and getting to perform alongside so many talented people from all different year levels. The songs and dances were so much fun to learn, and I feel like I’ve grown a lot in confidence as a performer. It was also really special to be part of such a supportive group where everyone encourages each other and works together to put on such an awesome show.

For me and many others, production is the highlight of the school year. It’s no surprise that when everyone found out this year’s show was going to be Mamma Mia!, we were ecstatic. It is such a feel-good show and getting up on stage to sing and dance to ABBA songs was always going to be a blast. Production is a really great opportunity to meet like-minded students with the same passion and hobbies as you. You get to know people from different year levels who you might not have met otherwise. I’ve met some of my best friends through production and the memories we’ve made have lasted long after the show’s closed.
Being a part of production has also really helped build my confidence and adaptability! Theatre has taught me so many important skills that apply to my life outside of performing.
To anyone who is interested in trying out for production, go for it! There are lots of different ways to get involved, whether that’s on stage, backstage, or in the band. You learn so much from the experience and it’s so much fun!

Mamma Mia! has been one of the most fun shows I’ve ever taken part in. As one of four Dance Captains, it’s been so special to watch our hard work and choreography come to life in front of a live audience. In this role, I was able to explore my creative side, step outside my comfort zone, and create my own choreography — then teach it to others. While it was daunting at times, it was also incredibly exciting and rewarding. Being a dance captain has helped us all strengthen our leadership skills, from teaching and running rehearsals to supporting fellow cast members whenever they needed it. These are skills that will be valuable in any future leadership role, and even in the everyday confidence of speaking in front of large groups. Thank you to everyone who made this show possible — from the audience to the directors — and for making Mamma Mia! such an unforgettable experience.

Being a part of Mamma Mia! has been an incredible experience. The highlight was definitely working with my friends and the cast to bring all the dances together and seeing the amazing end result. I picked up so many skills like choreography, teaching, and teamwork. All of that has also made me better at staying organised and thinking creatively, which has been super useful, so thank you to everyone who was a part of the show!
