Building Connections, Strengthening Community

At Boroondara Park Primary School, my vision is to create a school that is more than a place of learning. We are building a vibrant community hub where students, families, staff, and local organisations work together to support every child's success, wellbeing, and sense of belonging.

Strong partnerships are at the heart of this vision. Throughout the year, we have invested in strengthening relationships with local preschools, kindergartens, secondary schools, community organisations, local businesses, and Boroondara City Council. These partnerships create valuable opportunities for our students while ensuring BPPS remains a connected and visible part of our local community.

Building relationships begins long before students enrol at our school. Through regular engagement with local kinders and preschools, information sessions, school tours, and community events, we are sharing the BPPS story and supporting families as they make important educational decisions. As Principal, I have continued to actively advocate for our school through visits to early childhood settings, parent information evenings, and community forums, strengthening awareness of the outstanding opportunities available at BPPS.

Within our school community, we have focused on improving communication and connection between families and staff. The refinement of our WhatsApp class groups, the use of WeChat to support communication with our diverse community, and the accessibility of our staff have helped foster stronger relationships, increased engagement, and a genuine sense of partnership between home and school.

A key example of the power of community partnerships has been our work supporting the transition from Year 6 to Year 7. Through our strong relationship with Balwyn High School, students have participated in visits to the secondary campus, welcomed high school staff and students through incursions at BPPS, and engaged in authentic learning experiences that build confidence and independence. 

Students have also travelled to Kew East using public transport, developing practical life skills and preparing for the increased independence required in secondary school.

These experiences have helped ensure our students approach the transition to Year 7 with confidence, resilience, and excitement.

As we continue to grow, our commitment remains clear: to build a school that sits at the centre of its community, where strong relationships create opportunities, partnerships enhance learning, and every family feels connected and valued.

Together, we are building a thriving community where students are known, supported, and empowered to achieve their personal best.
