We Will Rock You

In week eight this term Special Education staff and students excitedly boarded both the Coast Ability bus and public bus to travel to Erina Heights for a live stage performance. Central Coast Grammar School (CCGS) kindly invited students from the Support Unit to attend the dress rehearsal of the musical We Will Rock You. 

We all relished the opportunity to see such talented students, singing, dancing, and acting in fantastic costumes. We also very much enjoyed the comforts of the state-of-the-art venue. The Henry Kendall High School staff were proud of our students as they were engaged in the show that was over 2 hours in length. Most came out humming Queen’s tunes! 

This annual invitation from Central Coast Grammar School is a generous gesture and something we appreciate. Each year the musical excursion is a highlight of our calendar.

One Culture Inclusive Sports

One Culture is a local not for profit organisation that specialises in providing inclusive sport opportunities for people with disabilities. More information about One Culture can be found at: https://www.oneculturesupportservices.org/ 

For the last two weeks of this semester, One Culture visited Henry Kendall High School and organised inclusive soccer and games for students with special needs. Our students had so much fun and demonstrated style and enthusiasm as they worked with the coaches to improve their skills. Such programs provide the added benefit of students developing their social skills as they learn to share and take turns. 

We look forward to future association with One Culture as we believe it is an excellent opportunity to expand our Tuesday Sport Program.
