Principals Report

Thank you & Farewell!!

At the end of the Term 3 we are farewelling some important members of our school community. Firstly, Bronwyn Bennett will be retiring after more than 30 years’ service to Henry Kendall High School and Public Education. Bronwyn has worked in our Special Education Unit over these years and her impact on the students’ lives is unmeasurable in words. She has been instrumental in ensuring students in Special Education have been given opportunities to reach and move forward into the world to reach their personal best. We wish her the very best as she moves into retirement and are very grateful to have worked and known her for so long.

We also farewell our counsellor Steve Hoad whose contribution to our school, individual students and their families has been paramount to the wellbeing of many. Knowing Steve is at school has meant the world to some of our students and has helped them to flourish at school and move out into the world successfully. We know Steve has a lot of adventures coming his way and we wish him the very best exploring the beautiful country of ours.

Two of our support staff are also leaving at the end of term moving onto new pathways, we wish Brad Gillard all the best as he moves on from his position as our Farm Assistant, a position he too has held for a long period of time. We would like to thank Brad for the contribution he has made to our school. We also like to wish Jane MacKay a Student Administration Officer, who has been working as a Science Assistant and has been instrumental in establishing gardens and other environmental projects in the Science space.

Henry Kendall has been a busy school over the past few weeks with numerous opportunities being offered for our students.

Senior School 2024/25 Multiple Pathway Program

On Thursday 1 June we held our first Community Information Evening for Year 10 students and families. The night provided an overview of important NESA information for subject selections as students move from Stage 5 to Stage 6. Students were also made aware of the Stage 6 Preparation Program that will happen for our Year 10 students in Week 7, 8 and 9 of Term 4.

Any students that did not receive their pathways booklet, they can collect it from the front office. On Thursday 15 June, students also had the chance to speak to the Head Teacher’s and staff of Stage 6 Courses in the MPC. It was a fantastic night and hopefully students and families were able to have their questions answered.

Extracurricular News

I would like to congratulate all the students that have participated in numerous extracurricular opportunities offered at Henry Kendall High School over the past few weeks. We know that through active engagement in these activities, a student’s personal sense of belonging and connection to the school community strengthens. These extracurricular activities can also improve self-esteem and personal wellbeing and help shape the school culture.

Mob Pod, Debating, Raise Mentoring, Coffee Shop, Stand Tall, Applied Learning cooking opportunities, Didgeridoo making workshop, Central Coast Oz Tag Gala Day, Morning Gym Programs and the We Will Rock You Music excursion are just a few examples of the extracurricular activities that have been running so far this term.

I would like to thank the staff who have initiated these fantastic opportunities for our students, and I look forward to seeing what further initiatives will be available for students throughout the remainder of the term.
