PDHPE Faculty

Term 2 has been full of action in PDHPE. Building on the successes of Term 1, our students and sporting teams have excelled across a variety of areas with some outstanding achievements that need to be recognised.

During Term 2, students flocked in large numbers to take part in the annual Henry Kendall High School Athletics Carnival. The warm sunny weather made for an amazing day of running, jumping and throwing events. A significant number of students competed across the day with a few long-standing records being toppled. The PDHPE Faculty would like to congratulate all students who attended on the day and wish the best of luck to the students who have progressed through to the upcoming rounds of competition.

In Term 2, our Stage 4 and 5 PDHPE classes have been engaged with our annual Dance Unit. This unit is always popular with the staff and we have been impressed with the engagement and maturity from the students throughout the unit. In addition to the physical benefits of dance, our unit heavily focuses on the social skills involved and provides the opportunity for students to branch out from their usual social groups. The unit culminates with our Dance assessments where students perform in costume whilst attempting to win the title of Mr or Miss Dance 2023.

We have had significant success throughout Term 2 with our school sporting teams. The Open Girls Volleyball team performed incredibly and progressed through to their semi-final match without losing a single set in any game. They were unfortunately defeated in a close game; knocking them out of the competition but have laid the foundations for further success in next year’s competition. The Boys and Girls Futsal Teams also competing in the Central Coast competition at Niagara Park Stadium with great success. The 19's Boys, 14's Girls and 19's Girls teams progressed to the state finals at Maitland where all teams played exceptionally well with a mix of wins and losses on the day. Additionally, our four Oz-Tag teams competed at their respective Gala Days with some pleasing results.

Finally, throughout the month of June, we had 105 members join the Henry Kendall High School Team for the 2023 Push-Up Challenge. The team has done an incredible effort raising $1350 for Mental Health and completing over 125,000 push-ups over the three-week period.

We hope you enjoy a well-deserved break and look forward to seeing you in Term 3.
