Romero Community

Race Day

Friday 18th November saw the return of Romero Race Day to our school calendar. The Romero Community Day, which in the past was traditionally held in May to celebrate the Wagga Gold Cup, was a key addition to the Spring Racing Carnival this year with all proceeds going towards the great cause of Movember.

Activities commenced with Fashions on the Field, where a very stylish Ryan Holt impressed our judges to claim the top prize. Thanks very much to Mark Anthony’s Clothing for generously providing prizes. The dressage was a new addition to the program this year with a great field of runners. Billy McFarland and Jacob Mania won the acclaim of the judges, with Billy prevailing in a dance-off. The final event was the showjumping in which Ben Toohey showed his speed and athleticism winning by several furlongs.

Thank you to all students and staff for their assistance in running the day, and also for coming with such a great spirit. In total, almost $1100 was raised for the cause of mens’ health, but just as importantly we came together and showed the great community spirit of Kildare.
