NSW Junior Country Track Championships

Congratulations to William Peace, Year 7, who competed in the NSW Junior Country Track Championships held in Bathurst and Orange last weekend.

At just 13 years old, Will raced against competitors in Under 15s. Will won his Derby heat and placed 4th in the final. He also raced in the ‘Win and Out’ and placed 8th out of 15 riders. Will raced in the Keirin and placed 6th.

For all his other races Will placed around 12th.

Congratulations on fantastic results and excellent sportsmanship. What a superstar!

Combined Wagga Wagga High Schools Water Polo

Last week, both our boys and girls water polo teams competed in the CWWHSSA Water Polo carnival at the Oasis.

This is the first year that Kildare has competed in the event and all students should be super proud of their efforts.

Boys Team: Cooper Manson, Jack Piggot, Noah Lynch-Ridley, Jackson Connolly, Callum Gardiner, Campbell Mattingly, Jackson Casely, Noah Owens, Isaac Mooney, Hamish Inglis, Bill Walker

Girls Team: Jess Johnson, Zoe McQueen, Olivia Cecchini, Lara Knox, Xanthe McQueen, Mikayla Wilson, Elenor Crawford, Bridie Gregurke, Ruby McCrae, Elsie Stoll

Starting in the bottom division, both teams needed to win all of their games to progress to the semi finals. The boy's team had comfortable wins over KHS (6-2) & MDCC-B (13-0) to progress to the semi-finals. Our girl's team, unfortunately, met eventual winners WWHS in their first game and went down (6-2) but easily accounted for MDCC B (10-1) in their second-round game.

The boys met TRAC in the semi-final. An outstanding game up front by Captain Isaac Mooney (5 goals) helped us to a comfortable victory (7-2) where we progressed to meet heavy favourites, MDCC-A in the final.

The grand final was a tight tussle with Callum Gardiner going head to head with one of the best swimmers in the state in what proved to be a match-winning effort from Callum. Jack Piggot and Noah Owens worked tirelessly in defence and attack and year 7 student, Hamish Inglis stood up against many bigger bodies and saved a mountain of shots in goals. Isaac Mooney again was dangerous up front scoring another 3 goals to lead us to a well-earned victory (6-3) over MDCC. Isaac was also awarded the player of the carnival for his efforts on the day.

Well done to both teams on a great day and thanks to Toby Stone for her coaching and advice on the day. We all really appreciate it.

Under 18s Girls Kildare Basketball Team

A huge congratulations to the U/18s girls Kildare Basketball team who have developed well in their first season together, especially those who only started playing basketball this season. The girls finished second on the ladder, which put them into the semi finals and they would come away with the win 28-21. This put them into the grand final in a top of the table clash! In a tough, back and forth game the girls managed to come away with a nail biting win 38-36! A huge congratulations to the girls for getting the win unfortunately I couldn't be there but a huge thank you to the parents who were able to assist me throughout the season.
