Level Crossing Removal

Dear Heathmont College Community,

The Ringwood Level Crossing Removal Team are removing the dangerous and congested level crossings at Bedford Road, Ringwood and Dublin Road, Ringwood East and building a brand-new Ringwood East Station.

Students, parents, and school staff will need to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time while these works take place.

Changes to train services on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines

To support these works, buses will replace trains between Blackburn and Belgrave or Lilydale from 8.30pm Wednesday 9 August to last service Tuesday 15 August. During this time, there will be changes to the way school students, parents/guardians and school staff move around the station area. Please refer to the table below for these changes.

Road closures

Bedford Road, Ringwood will be closed at the level crossing from 8pm Thursday 10 August to 6am Monday 14 August andDublin Road, Ringwood East will be closed at the level crossing from 10am to 8pm Thursday 10 August.

There will also be minor traffic and pedestrian delays at Dublin Road and Bedford Road level crossings as vehicles and equipment access the rail corridor. Traffic management will be in place at both locations to facilitate access, as required.

Changes to school bus stops and routes

On Friday 11 August, there will be minor changes to school bus routes around the Bedford Road, Ringwood area. This will not affect students getting to/from school, however, we do encourage students, parents/guardians and staff to plan ahead.

We know how important it is for your school to navigate these works and there are several ways we’ll help students, parents/guardians and staff get to and from school safely, including:

  • Clear, signed pedestrian pathways around construction zones, particularly where these zones are near schools
  • Traffic management crews on site to safely direct traffic and monitor congestion
  • School updates, such as this email, to provide information that can be used in school communication channels to parents and guardians
  • Opportunities for students to get involved in the project through learning activities and career talks
  • Clear, advanced notice of disruptions online, via email and SMS, and in local letterboxes.

We’re also available to hold meetings with parents/guardians at schools to go through these pedestrian access changes and bus stop relocations in more detail.
