Student Leader's Report
Hello parents, staff, and students.
During the course of the year, Mr Russell, Marlon Arndt, and I have been able to lead and run a mentoring program for a group of Year 7, 8 and 9 students as a part of their SWEL class time. This program has allowed the students to gain hands on learning skills, as during these sessions students have been hard at work making bird boxes for the trees in and around our school community. This program has allowed Marlon and I to connect with these students on a personal level in hopes that sharing experiences and being a sound board for them will help them be better people and eventually strong role models within our community. It has quickly become the thing that we all look forward to the most during the week and our hope is we can continue to build these connections with them all beyond this year.

The mentoring program was the brainchild of Marlon and Lachlan as part of their school leadership portfolios, and they are to be commended on the impact they have on their younger peers. Both leaders have demonstrated a way to develop relationships and provide guidance based on their own varied experiences of secondary school. The construction projects have been engaging for the students, but it’s the time spent watching the students for connections with peers that has been a highlight for me. A big thank you also to Mr Harry Brown who has lended much of his expertise and knowledge to the program.
