Author's Visit

Library News - Author’s Visit

On Thursday, May 19, the library was fortunate to host a visit from renowned Australian author, Phillip Gwynne.

Phillip was inspirational and very engaging, sharing with our Year 7 and Year 8 students his life experiences and encouraging them to write and to look inside themselves for inspiration.

One of eight siblings, Phillip Gwynne told students that we all have a story to tell and that everyone’s experience is unique and worth writing about.

Students were thrilled to listen to his soon to be released picture book, Song of the Ibis. A gorgeous story giving voice to the unheard and challenging the way we view others.

Call me Bin Chicken

Call me Tip Turkey

Call me Picnic Pirate...

But... there is a lot more to my song than you might think. And maybe I've got something to teach you too.

At the end of the session, students were given the opportunity to purchase an individually signed copy of his latest young adult novel The Break. The cost was subsidized by our school enabling students to purchase the book at only half price.

We thank Phillip for his time and we look forward to seeing him in the library again real soon.
