Aussie Rules

During the cold, wet and wintery conditions of July, Taylors Lakes SC were strongly represented across three age groups in the sport of Aussie Rules. Whilst no side was successful enough to progress through to the State Finals, what was for sure was the effort and attitude displayed across the three teams was a fantastic representation of school values.

Intermediate Girls

The intermediate girls won through to their regional final on the back of having 15 players through the divisional rounds. They were ‘topped up’ by year 8 student Taylah and two year 7’s Aaisha  and Lauren, all who did a terrific job playing above their age group. This allowed us to be able to just fill a full side of 18. Unfortunately for our players, our two games yielded one win with the loss coming from the eventual overall champions. Well done to the Year 10 representatives who lead all day with their effort and support for all team members.

Intermediate Boys

Our Intermediate Boys weren’t overly troubled in the divisional rounds, however during the regional events it was a different story. The quality of teams and players that we faced was well above the expectations of the group and as such were soundly beaten against a quality Strathmore SC team and a narrow loss (3 points) to Lakeview. However, in the final game and in the final moments, Mitch snuck forward to put the Lakers 2 points up against a combative Bayside. It was a fantastic way to cap off the day and reward for the excellent effort applied throughout.

Senior Girls

Our Senior Girls found a way to sneak into the regional round, with no other school in our region putting in a side. Those practise game rounds certainly might have helped our cohesion and understanding of the way we played as a team, as we came up against some very experienced and well drilled schools. Despite not winning a game, the highlight was certainly kicking two goals against the overall champions of the round and showed a never give up attitude that the coaches were very proud of.

Soccer - Intermediate Girls

The Inter girls have had a successful campaign this year thus far.  They have made it through two rounds to play the "Bill Turner" Victorian final.

Unfortunately, after a scoreless first half they lost 4-2 to a very strong Rowville Secondary College.

The girls are now in a position to compete for the SSV State Championship on Tuesday 30th August as they have successfully come through both the divisional and western metro rounds.

We are super proud of their efforts on the pitch this year and we wish them luck!

Futsal - Junior Girls

Well done or our Junior Year 7/8 girls who went out to futsal on Thursday, 31st August.

They played well across the day in a round robin style tournament beating Springside 13-1, Copperfield 2-1 and losing to Keilor Downs College by 2, leaving most teams with 2 wins ad a loss.

The girls ended up sneaking up with 2 extra goals in goal difference to take the win.

Well done to our girls and looking forward to our Brisbane teams in Term 4
