Dance Concert

Taylors Lakes Secondary College presented its mid-year Dance Showcase on the evening of Wednesday 17th August in the Performing Arts Centre theatre.  Below is an article written by five of the students who performed at the concert.

Term 3 - Dance Concert

The TLSC dance program is super fun and we love attending lessons and performing at various events. It includes one dance class a week as well as an ensemble rehearsal per week. The styles we are currently dancing in include hip-hop, jazz and contemporary. The dance classes provide great opportunities such as participating in dance performances during lunch and semester concerts. 

During our classes we practice our technique/s and get the chance to choreograph our own dance ideas, as well as learning fun and challenging choreography from our dance teacher, Miss Even, if you choose to focus on a specific dance style, you still get the opportunity to learn and practice other styles.

At our Dance concert last week, each dancer had learnt 3-4 dances to perform to the audience. We have been practising our individual group dances once a week and have also been rehearsing our ensemble items once a week at lunchtimes. During concert night, we were given various costumes and instructions of when and where to enter and exit the stage. We had a lot of fun backstage spending time and befriending other dance students from different year levels and it was a great opportunity to learn new things and show family and friends what we have been working on throughout the year. Despite it being a little stressful, we had a lot of fun and it was an amazing chance to show off our skills. We had some fast costume changes which allowed us to experience the life of a professional dancer. Some of us got the chance to moderate the show which helped us gain the confidence to speak publicly. T

Instrumental Music Soiree

The College Instrumental Music program staged our annual ‘Solo’s and Small Groups’ Soiree on Thursday 25th of August in the Performing Arts Centre theatre.  

Instrumental Music Soirée 🎵 

The 25th of August was an exciting night for TLSC! The Soirée was a fantastic opportunity for students in the music program to display their hard work and passion for music to the TLSC community. 

Performing enables students to gain experience, boost confidence and most importantly, have fun. Pieces performed throughout the night varied from classical piano to pop vocals. There were 48 performances including many solo and small group performances. 

Well done to all the students who performed! Thank you to all the instrumental music teachers who made the Soirée possible. We are so grateful for all the support from friends, family and teachers.
