Intermediate Cricket Team

Senior Volleyball

Well done to our Senior Volleyball teams who recently competed in the Divisional Competition at Reservoir High School. We had 2 Girls teams and 2 Boys teams competing on the day, with all four teams playing some competitive matches.

In the Girls competition both of our teams won their way through the day with both team finishing on top of their pools.  Playing off in the Semi Final, the teams defeated their opponents making it a NHS vs NHS Grandfinal. In an exciting match our Senior team came out overall Winners. Thank you to Lauren Jacobs for coaching and selecting the teams and running numerous training sessions across all year levels.

Year 7&8 Baseball and Softball

On Thurs March 12, our Yr 7 & 8 Baseball and Softball teams competed in the Darebin Divisional Competitions at Mill Park Baseball Complex.

Having only one match to play our Baseball team had the opportunity to have a training session with student coach Ethan Wainwright before their match against Thornbury.  Once the game had started they soon realised that Thornbury were going to be tough opponents.  The boys had an opportunity to play a longer match with more innings due to the this being the only scheduled match.  The team found their groove as they progressed through the game but unfortunately were not strong enough to defeat Thornbury.  We would like to thank Ethan for not only coaching the side but also officiating the match.  We seriously could not have coped without his guidance and expertise.

In the Softball Competition, in their first match, our girls came out strong to defeat Lalor Secondary College.  With only one or two experienced players, the girls did well to adapt to a game that was relatively new to most of them. It was a great confidence boost for the team to have a win first up.  Next they played Thornbury who had also defeated Lalor. In a very close match Thornbury came away with the win to become overall winners of the day.

Congratulations to both of our teams, their teamwork and encouragement was something to be proud of.

Year 9/10 Regional Cricket

Congratulations to our Yr 9/10 girls Cricket team who recently defeated Whittlesea and Melbourne Girls College to win the Regional event which was held at Donath Reserve. The team have now qualified to play in the State Quarter Finals which are due to take place in Term 4.

Divisonal Swimming

Once again NHS had a successful day at the Divisional Swimming Carnival which was held at Northcote Aquatic Centre on March 11.  We had 44 students competing, with many swimmers coming away with  With Northcote High School hosting the competition, staff and our Sports Captains should be congratulated on the smooth running of the day.

Given the current situation, Interschool Sports will not be running at present. Please refer to Compass Newsfeed and the School Sport Victoria Website for updates.
