UNDERSTANDING GENDER AND SEXUAL DIVERSITY

Parenting in the Modern World: Understanding Gender Identity and Sexual Diversity

Venue: Castlemaine Library

For parents/carers of teens and tweens who would like to understand more about the acronyms used by the rainbow community, how to be part of the gender inclusive world, using and understanding inclusive language, and communication strategies for talking to young people.

 

A panel of passionate and experienced professionals will guide a discussion on all these topics and more, with an opportunity to ask questions in a safe environment. Resources and handouts will also be available.

 

On the panel:

 

* Bron Grieve, Community Health Nurse from Castlemaine Health

 

* Sherene Clow, LGBTIQA+ Health Officer, also from Castlemaine Health

 

* Maree Dixon, HEY Diversity Worker from Headspace

 

* Mez Lanigan, Senior Way Out Worker.

 

The panel discussion will be facilitated by Hayley West, library officer and parent.

 

Q&A and refreshment break included.
