GRADE 3/4

Our Week

Reading

This week we continued developing our reading comprehension skills through answering questions relating to example texts and working on strategies to check our answers.

Writing

Grade 3's did a great job of participating in their first Naplan assessment this week, which was writing a narrative in one session. Students across year levels have been looking at different language conventions and their correct usage. This week has also been a good opportunity to finish off and start some new writing projects.

Spelling

Our spelling sound was c as in city. Students have done an admirable job remembering to complete their spelling homework in this very busy time.

Maths

Our focus in Maths this week was again revising  multiplication skills and relating it to division. Students interpreted worded problems to select the correct operation and solve. They also had a chance to do some general numeracy revision when having a go of using the Naplan training site online.

Other Stuff......

  • This week students loved participating in the first of our football clinics. They will have another opportunity to practise their skills next Wednesday for our second installment.
  • Miss Butler will be having the week off starting May 23. For this period 3/4B will have Liz for the first half of the week and Sherree  in the second.
  • Next week 3/4B are very lucky to have Jemma, a student teacher, joining the class.  Jemma will be with us for four weeks in total.
  • Our Naplan dates for next week are:

                    -  Reading (online) - Monday, May 16

                    - Language Conventions (online) -  Tuesday May 17

                    - Numeracy (online) - Thursday, May 19

  • While masks are not required to be worn in schools anymore we continue to have positive COVID-19 cases throughout the school, so still a good idea to think about wearing one to protect each other and family members.
  • Finally it has been wonderful to have our school mural installed. Be sure to take a look next time you are visiting the office!

Have a safe and happy weekend!
