PREP UPDATE

Learning Focus for this Week
Letter of the Week - g and l
Reading
By you now you will notice that our preps are having a go at sounding out some simple words and might recognise some common words. At school, we are continuing to work on developing these skills. In some books, it is still necessary to read with the children to help them recognise the language patterns used by the author.
Writing and Spelling
Each week in the newsletter we will aim to feature some of the writing produced in class during the week. This week we have a sentence from Crusoe and from Finnegan. Both of them have capital letters at the start of the sentence, good spacing and full stops at the end.
Maths
This week we have been learning about 3D shapes, their names, and features and recognising them in the environment. The students have had lots of fun making shapes using match sticks and plasticine.
Other Notes
Football Clinics
Both last week, and this coming week, we have been lucky to be able to take part in some AFL clinics. During the clinics the children play fun games while learning to handle footballs.
Illness
Both Prep classes have had large numbers of students away with illness during the week, most of which seems to be common colds. If this has affected you, thankyou for caring for your children at home and we wish them a speedy recovery.
