GRADE 5-6 UPDATE

Hello 5/6 families,

We are SO proud of our Grade 5 students in the way that they have participated in the Naplan tests this week. Their enthusiasm and willingness to give it go is appreciated and they should be applauded! Well done! The Grade 6 students are to be congratulated also on their supportiveness towards their peers. In recognition of all efforts this week, we hope all students enjoyed their little treat on Thursday! You rock!

This week during Literacy, students have been reading, planning, writing and editing a persuasive piece of writing based on 'Summer Vs Winter.'

Footy clinics

We were very lucky today to have Kate Phillips come in and talk with the students about human rights and her involvement with PLAN. Kate has had experience working around the areas of children and youth rights, women and girls’ rights, and climate change (including some indigenous rights in that space). And then intersecting with all that, disability rights and equality/human rights more broadly. The students were very interested in listening to how she found a passion for this area through trips she had taken to Africa and Madagascar. She also talked about her continued work in the Solomon Islands with girls and young women, and the barriers and discrimination they face to gain an education. Kate is now focusing her expertise within Australia focusing on immigration and refugee rights, and disability and mental health rights.

Upcoming events:

  • May 18th - Football Clinics
  • May 23rd to 27th - Education Week (see newsletter)
  • May 31st & June 7th - Golf Clinics

Enjoy your weekend!
