VISIT YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD SCHOOL

CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF STATE EDUCATION - MAY 25

The principals in the Mount Alexander Network work closely together to improve the learning outcomes of every child at our schools.

We encourage parents of 2023 prep students, to visit your neighbourhood school on our District Open Day, Wednesday 25th May. Kindergartens and child care centres have received our fliers with contact details for each school. Most schools are open from 9:30-11am for school tours on this day. We ask parents to visit your neighbourhood school before looking at other schools, because we know that your neighbourhood school is a great school. Your neighbourhood school (local school) is your closest school. You can find your neighbourhood school at https://www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au/

As a parent, you can be confident that your child will learn the common set of knowledge and skills required by students for life-long learning, social development and active and informed citizenship.

Teachers across our schools use evidence based best practice to provide high quality literacy and numeracy programs. All schools offer a range of specialist programs including a Language other than English.

Sometimes parents worry about their kinder child attending a different school to their kinder friends. We know that children make friends very quickly at this age and building connections with your local community assists with wellbeing for both children and families. Students can walk or ride to school, get to know their neighbours and be sustainable!

Every Victorian student has a legislated right to enrol at their designated neighbourhood government school (local school). A student’s designated neighbourhood school is generally the school that is nearest the student’s permanent address as determined by the school zone. The Find My School website provides guidance on which school zone a student’s permanent residence is located within.
