Grand Final

The A Team jumped out of the blocks to take an early lead before OLSH clawed their way back!

The second half saw Kilbreda then jump back out to a 10 point lead and despite a big come back from OLSH in the dying minutes they managed to hang on for a 3 point win 29-26.

The B Team faced an OLSH team that had beaten them 21-2 in Round 1 and they were determined to put up a better fight after their significant improvement over the last few weeks. The game was tight the whole way with multiple lead changes before a last minute OLSH basket sent the game into overtime. The girls tried their hearts out in overtime but were unlucky to go down by 6 points 22-28.

A massive congratulations to all girls on an amazing season.

Golf

Jorja Azzopardi participated in the Independent School State Final for Golf on Monday 27 May and finished in second place. Congratulations Jorja. The following is Jorja's reflections of the day:

I participated in the Independent Schools State Finals which was at Long Island Golf Club. I was competing in the senior girls' section which was girls in Years 10 to 12. There were 15 girls in total who competed in this section. We were put into groups of four, and played the 18 holes. There were also 70 boys who competed in the competition.

We competed in heavy rain and high winds so the scores were a lot higher than what they would have been on a still day. Some of the schools were from the other side of the city as well as some closer ones. One girl I played against lives in Barwon Heads, so it is a widely known competition across Independent Schools.

It was an extremely fun and enjoyable day even though the weather was tough. I encourage any girls interested in golf with any ability to get involved in the qualifying round next year.
