It’s been another choc-a-block fortnight in the VCAL classrooms!

Food Handling Course

On Monday 20 June, students completed their Food Handling course where they learnt about temperature control, cross-contamination, organisational procedures for safe food handling and storage and food hazards.

As part of their assessment, students were then required to cook and assemble a chicken fajita whilst demonstrating the skills and knowledge they had attained throughout the day.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea

Our Year 11 VCAL students put on a delicious morning tea for staff on Thursday 23 May for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, a Cancer Council fundraiser. There were delicious brownies, decadent baked lemon slice, enticing cupcakes and mouth-watering tiramisu on offer amongst other treats.

Staff were asked to make a donation and thanks to this student-led initiative, over $130 was raised to be donated to the Cancer Council.

VCAL Showcase

Kilbreda College Meeting Room

The VCAL showcase is nearly upon us and our students have been working hard collating all the work from their projects across the course of the semester.

This is the first year Kilbreda has run a showcase evening and it is a chance for students to show off their skills and achievements over the course of the semester. The evening is compulsory for all VCAL students: Parents/carers are invited to attend the evening and share supper and listen to some presentations from students.
