Year 11 Media

In Unit 1 Media Studies students looked at how to construct meaning and representations in different media forms.  After watching, discussing and analysing various Media texts, it was the students' turn to experiment with the construction of meaning and create their own representations.

Students were required to apply their understanding of how TV Reality productions are represented in mainstream media.  By looking at how the camera, editing techniques, sound design and narrative structure are created in shows such as Survivor, MasterChef, The Block and The Bachelor, students were able to apply these codes and conventions to their own TV reality shows.

Working in production teams, students were asked to pitch a new reality television show for Kilbreda College.  The teams all worked through the production process, planning, scheduling, shooting, editing and marketing their shows.  Students benefitted from working with production storyboards and follow shooting schedules.

Which reality television show would you tune into?
