Sandhurst Division Junior Basketball

On Thursday, 12th August, our Girton basketball teams headed off to the Bendigo Stadium to participate in the Sandhurst Division Junior Basketball tournament. 

 

Year 7 boys: The boys played three games, winning against East Loddon, a draw with Crusoe and a loss to CMC, ending up 3rd in their pool and 5th in the overall placings. 

By the end of the day, the boys had started to click and were playing well as a team.

Year 7 Girls: The girls had a great tournament winning 2 out of 3 games, only losing to CMC by 2 points in the group stage. The girls won their semi-final against Marist by 5 points and had to play CMC in the Grand Final. Despite the final margin extending to 10 points, the girls were in the game up until the final minutes and should be proud of their effort. Thank you to the team coach Caitlin Richardson (11Je).

Year 8 Boys: The boys played four games, winning against East Loddon, and coming up short against Crusoe by 5 points, CMC by 5 points and Victory by 1 point. A tough day on the court, but the boys, gave it their best. The team ended up 4th in their pool and 7th overall.

 

Team members: Hunter Wright (8AH), Ryan Pham (8Ah), Tom Kuchel (8Fr), Emiel Van Bree (8Mi), Dut Arok (8Jo), Oliver Walker (8Jo), Zac Turpie (8Fr) Quin Herz (8Mi). Thank you to Mr Dean Norris for coaching on the day.

 

 

Year 8 Girls: This team had a lot of fun, winning two games against Crusoe and East Loddon, losing to CMC by 7 points and Victory by 8 points. The girls ended up 3rd in their pool and 6th overall.
