Victorian School Netball Championship

On the 18th of August, some Girton netballers from years 7-12, along with Mrs Hamilton, Ms Speed, Mrs Fisher, Mrs Gibson, Serryn Eenjes and myself, made our way to the Bendigo Stadium to compete in the Victorian School Netball Championship. All teams started off the day well and strong, as the day went by teams showed big improvements.

The 7 and 8 team, coached by Mrs Gibson, won 3 of their 6 match, with their biggest winning margin of 6-0 against Pyramid Hill College. Having only three teams in their pool, it was a tough day. However, we are extremely proud of this team and how well they listened, persisted and took on advice throughout the day.

The 9 and 10 team, coached by Mrs Fisher, won 4 out of their 6 games, narrowly losing to GVGS by one goal in their third match. The girls fought hard and gave their all on the court. A massive congratulations to the girls for their achievements on the day.

The 11 and 12 team, coached by Mrs Hamilton, had a change of plans and played two games on the day due to two teams pulling out of the tournament. In the first game against rivals GVGS they won, however in the second game against Bendigo Senior unfortunately the girls narrowly went down. The tournament was a fantastic way for some of our year 12’s to celebrate their final time representing Girton.

Thank you to Ms Speed for organising and facilitating the day, as well as all the coaches. Congratulations to everyone who competed on the day.
