Unit 1 & 2 Japanese class: Zoom catch up with Gojo

Last Friday during lunchtime, Unit 1 & 2 Japanese students had the opportunity to catch up with Gojo students via zoom.  Annalies Broom(12A) and Angelica Jack (12Je) who attended Gojo for 2 weeks last January were able to attend as well.  Gojo students introduced themselves in English and Girton students did so in Japanese.  We ask each other questions based on the introduction.  Aidan Clemens (11M) was able to show his Cricket bat, which Gojo students found very interesting.  It was great fun to witness the interaction between students from both schools.  We enjoyed the session so much and we are hoping to have another one soon.  It will be wonderful if we can visit each other in the near future.

Sushi Making

Mrs Krelle ran a sushi-making demonstration in her Year 6 Japanese zoom class.  Mrs Krelle was extremely impressed with a video clip that Olivia Pitt 6D created, sharing her “Sushi making” skills.

Year 9 Science

The Year Nine students are currently studying Acids and Bases in Science. Mrs Hogan jumped into the kitchen to show her students how they could create their own indicators out of purple cabbage to find out if some everyday substances around the house are acids or bases. The students then went off to replicate this experiment safely in their own kitchens.

7 Frew and 7 Millward Art students were tasked with constructing a colourful collage out of their names.  They also created texture with their pieces using frottage (rubbings) from pathways, sink draining boards, tiles etc.

8 Jones Caricatures

A quick video on ways to draw was shown to 8 Jones Art students.  Students practised the techniques by making cartoons of themselves.  They were then asked to use their newfound skills to create a cartoon image of their family.  The images are delightful. They have been made using the materials that students have at home. Therefore, there is a mixture of materials used.
