COLLEGE CHAPLAIN

A Final Blessing for Year 12

Year 12 there are so many things you now know after spending six years at The Riverina Anglican College. You know what ‘Tuck it in’ meansYou know the euphoria of witnessing a team solve a Cluedo at Tathra. You know what minimum standards assessment means. You know what online learning means. You have known disappointments. You have known sporting success. You know all too well what loss feels like. You know what a Beggy Burger tastes like. You know what purpose a top button does or doesn’t serve. You know that Kodi will always make you laugh, Marina will always have baked and Godfrey will always triumph.

So much you know. My prayer for you is that you will know all the more of both life’s ups and downs as you leave us, but that you will know these things while also knowing God’s love for you. A love which is limitless in length, width, height and depth. The curious thing is that Paul prays in Ephesians 3:19 that we would ‘know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge’. In effect, Paul prays that we would know the unknowable. That is, that when you ride those highs of life, that you will know that God’s love for you in Jesus rises above that. When you go to great lengths of success or travel, that you will know Christ’s love goes further. When you sink down into those moments of life’s despairs, that you will know that Christ’s love goes deeper. Year 12, you know I bring you this prayer in love, as I have done during your six years here and I pray that with all that you now know, you may now know all the more, Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge.
