Principal's Report

Celebrating Student Excellence

The Blackburn High School value of Excellence has been exemplified by our students throughout the year. We congratulate Michael Beech, a Year 12 Hollows student, who participated in the Queensland Border Challenge, held at Caloundra Indoor Stadium from Tuesday 28 - Wednesday 29 June as part of the Level 7 Victorian State Gymnastics Team.

Athletes from across Australia competed cross the two days of competition. Michael’s Victorian Team won the overall gold team event and Michael won gold for the vault, gold for the rings routine and bronze for the high bar routine. Well done to Michael, who is an exceptional student always striving to reach his personal best in everything he does.

Another recent highlight for Michael, was playing a duet with James Morrison at the recent BHS concert in August.

Student STEM Centre Tours

We are very excited about the Blackburn High School STEM Centre nearing completion in November this year and waiting in anticipation to use these transformative specialist science and technology rooms.

Students have taken up the opportunity to book a tour of the STEM Centre this week, with the Principal Ms Joanna Alexander and the Science and STEM Leader Ms Emma Love. The tours have been booked out and the students are inspired by the outstanding learning spaces.

We wish all our students, families, and staff a wonderful and restful holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone back re-energised for the start of Term 4 on Monday 3 October.
