HAP - High Achievers Program

On Monday 12th, the Year 7 HAP class went to KIOSC (Knox Innovation Opportunity & Sustainability Centre) at Swinburne University to participate in their Mission to Mars program. 

Throughout the day, students investigated the materials required to withstand extreme cold on Mars. They explored the surface of Mars using Oculus Rift Virtual Reality technology. Students also programmed drones along a Mars flightpath to determine the best route for the Mars rover to travel across the planet’s rough terrain. 

This program was the introduction to a week-long cross curricular project for the HAP class where they will design their own Mars colony, applying skills and knowledge from Science, Humanities, English, and Mathematics.
