Family Connect

Paul De Boom

Chair | SMCC Family Connect

Hello everyone,

Who would have thought that we are already fast approaching the end of Term 3, where is the year going?

If we as parents are feeling it, please spare a thought for the College and the College team as they continue to support your son or daughter on their learning journey.

Congratulations to the College on the official opening of the Hugh O’Brien Centre redevelopment, to all involved thank for your contribution as the results reflect a world class facility that will serve the College now and into the future.

Currently Family Connect is undertaking a “reimagining” exercise to refresh our understanding of our role and the way forward in partnership with the College in 2023.

My thoughts are that Family Connect serves one purpose and that is to simply serve, which we can only do through your voice. This is your committee, your voice, and your connection.

All that we ask is your thoughts and ideas to make your child’s journey while at the College a better one.

Please find attached our most recent meeting minutes from August for your review, additionally find attached the “Raising Screenagers with Dr Kristy Goodwin” flyer.  As parents if you do one thing to support your child in 2022 then attend this evening hosted by the College and sponsored by Family Connect.

Dr Goodwin delivered a powerful message via Zoom in August last year and although we had good numbers attend this face-to-face opportunity in the Hugh O’Brien Centre shouldn’t be missed whether your child is in secondary or primary school.

Members of the Committee and interested parents will be supporting the College’s “Raising Screenagers” evening on Thursday 8th September if you are at the College, drop by and say hello! RSVP for the parent session by clicking here.

Due to this parent engagement activity in September our next Family Connect meeting will be on Tuesday 18th October 2022 in the Hugh O’Brien Centre at 5.15pm.
