Shrek the Musical JR.
Joanne Wright
Musical Director
Congratulations to all involved with Shrek Jr – The musical. The show was so well received and we are grateful for the many words of congratulations we have received.
“Ogres are like onions….they have layers!”
Musicals are like onions – they have many layers. These layers started being laid at the end of 2021. Since then, they have been gradually forming into the production you now see. Congratulations to the many students who have embraced the opportunity to be a part of this production. Thank you for giving of your time and energy to participate in this musical. We trust that you have learned many stage-craft skills, have strengthened friendships, have built lasting memories and, most importantly, have experienced the joy of contributing to a live theatrical experience.
Special thanks must go to the staff who have put the students through their paces at each rehearsal. Many tireless hours have been given by staff members: Tracey Thorpe (Musical Director); Melissa Lovejoy, Kieran Walsh and Venera Walsh (Assistant Directors) and Sarah Thorne (Choreographer - FNQ Dance). These amazing teachers have been wonderful to work with.
Behind the scenes there have also been countless hours spent. Thank you to Alison Frazer for organizing and dressing some 70 characters! Thanks to our Producer, Alison Krause; Technical Director, Daniel Krause; and Properties coordinator, Eloise Harnett. A number of professional workers have also assisted us with this production. Thanks to Ross James Productions Hire, Jon Driver, Chris and Gary George, Sue Kim, Judith Butland, Melanie Tuxworth and the Cairns Choral Society.
Thanks to the wonderful staff of St. Mary’s and the St. Mary’s community for your support in countless ways. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and your applause. Congratulations to all of the students involved and, in particular, to those senior students who have taken on demanding roles in their final year at school.
