Staff v Students Volleyball

It’s Education Week, and on Wednesday at lunchtime, students flocked to the gym to take on the might of the staff volleyball team in our first staff vs student challenge for the year. One after the other, teams crumbled under the pressure of Ms Holder’s serve, Mr McManus’ digs, Mr Creagh’s spikes and Ms Hay’s finesse at the net. That is, until we came across Ralph and his team of Year 9 students. His amazing serving single-handedly helped turned the game on its head and sent the staff team to their first loss for the day. The Year 12’s fought valiantly through several different teams, but were no match for Ogden, Mauger, Morris and Sadirov on the staff team, who made short work of them and sent them packing! Victory was short-lived for the staff though, when they came across the ESC Volleyball Team. This crew of well-drilled and experienced players showed what their years of practice have established, and served a second loss to the staff group.

Overall it was fantastic to see so many students engaged in the event, having a hit and enjoying the spirit of the competition. While the staff were victorious in the end, it was a little too close for comfort. We look forward to seeing more competitors at the next staff vs student challenge.
