Middle School News
Year 9 students have been busily working towards their CATs that will occur during the last weeks of term, whereas Year 10 students have been preparing for their exams. Exams in Year 10 provide students with a fantastic opportunity to practise their study technique and to reflect on their study habits for future exams. At Year 10, the focus is for students to learn about the exam process; that is how to prepare for and attempt an exam, then most importantly to review feedback to improve for next time.
Last Monday, Year 10 students attended an incursion called Achieve Your BEST. The acronym BEST stands for Belief, Exams, Study and Toughness. The focus of the presentation was on study practices in addition to exam preparation and technique. These topics were introduced by establishing the importance of a growth mindset in developing good study habits and resilience in learning. In the coming lessons, students are reminded to refer to the booklet they received at the incursion for some study tips and also to study guides provided by their subject teachers.
As you’ll all know, over the next few days students will be working from home. They are expected to log on to Compass at the time of their classes and follow the assigned lesson plan from there. Please, if we can be of any assistance at this time, do not hesitant to contact myself, the Home Group Teacher, David (Year 9 Coordinator), Sean (Year 10 Coordinator) or Sue (Middle School Assistant) through email or by leaving a phone message at Reception.
Wishing you all the best.
