Dear Parents and Guardians

Ā

Welcome back to Term 3 to all our boarders and their families. It has been lovely catching up with the boys over the past two weeks and hearing their holiday stories.

Ā

During the final week of Term 2, I was fortunate to be chosen to attend the DMF Charism Pilgrimage to France and Italy, which provided me with a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of the life, spirituality and mission of St Eugene de Mazenod, founder of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI).

Ā

Visiting the places where his vocation was formed, where the Oblate Congregation began and where the Congregation continues to be led today transformed my historical knowledge into a lived experience. As Director of Boarding, this pilgrimage strengthened my appreciation of the Oblate charism and its practical application in creating a boarding community where every student feels known and valued.

Ā

Celebrating Mass with our own Oblates, including the Provincial, in some of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world was very special. Having them share their Oblate stories and experiences was a true privilege.

I extend my sincere thanks to the College Board, the Oblates and our Principal, Mrs Sabrina Hughes, for providing me with this wonderfully enriching opportunity. I would also like to thank all the Boarding staff who ensured that the final week of Term 2 ran smoothly.

This term, we welcome four new staff members to our Boarding supervisor team: Mr Kurt Fassom, Mr Paul Alsford, Mr Max McDonald and Mr Jayce Heal. I hope they enjoy their time in the Cebula community.

Ā

The boys have quickly settled back into the routines of residential living, and it has been very encouraging to see them return to winter sport and participate in the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival, NAIDOC Week events, excursions, incursions and weekend recreation activities.

Ā

In the coming weeks, we will begin the 2027 Boarding Leadership selection process. I am very confident that our Year 11 boys will rise to the challenge and apply for the available boarding leadership positions.

Ā

This weekend, I will be in Karratha for the FeNaClNG Festival, and I look forward to catching up with our families in the region during the two-day event.
