👷VET Pathways & WPL

Term 3 is shaping up to be another busy and exciting time for our Careers and VET students, with many important opportunities and milestones across Years 10-12.

Year 12 Students

This term marks an important stage as our Year 12 students complete their VET qualifications and undertake their final Workplace Learning placements. Many students are now preparing for life beyond Mazenod, with applications for apprenticeships, traineeships, employment, TAFE and university well underway.

Year 11 Students

Our Year 11 students will begin exploring their pathway options for 2027, including TAFE, UniPreparation courses and other post-school opportunities. Mr Tuohy and I have presented information outlining these pathways, application processes and key timelines to help students make informed decisions about their future.

Year 10 Students

Our Industry and Enterprise students will undertake their Term 3 Workplace Learning placement during Week 10. These placements provide valuable opportunities for students to develop employability skills, build confidence in the workplace and gain firsthand insight into careers they may wish to pursue after school.

Planning is also underway for our Semester 2 careers excursion, with further details to be shared with students and families later this term.

As always, we appreciate the ongoing support of our parents, employers and community partners. Together, we continue to provide our students with meaningful opportunities to explore their interests, develop workplace skills and confidently prepare for life beyond Mazenod.

All students have been sent a résumé template and referred to youthcentral.vic.gov.au for cover letter templates.

Certificate II Scholarship Courses:

This fully funded program offers students the opportunity to work towards a Certificate II in Building and Construction while still attending school. Depending on their chosen pathway, selected students will attend a registered training organisation (RTO) one or two days per week for one or two years. Students will also have the opportunity to gain practical experience through on-site work.

As part of the program, the Construction Training Fund (CTF) will cover the cost of uniforms, boots and course tuition. It will also provide ongoing mentoring, support and other wraparound services.

Applications close on Wednesday, 30 September. For more information and to apply, click here.

White Card - One-Day Course:

The White Card is a legal requirement for anyone working on a construction site in Australia. This short course provides the essential work health and safety (WHS) knowledge required to enter the industry. Students will learn how to identify hazards, manage risks and follow safe work practices on-site - knowledge they will use every day.
