Formation
As we begin another busy and rewarding term at Mazenod College, we are reminded that education is about far more than academic achievement. It is about forming young men of faith, courage, compassion and integrity who are prepared to make a positive difference in the world.
In a society that often values speed, success and individual accomplishment, our Oblate tradition invites us to pause and reflect on what truly matters. Every day our students are encouraged to grow not only in knowledge but also in character, learning the importance of service, respect and genuine care for others. These lessons are developed in classrooms, on sporting fields, through co-curricular activities and in the countless interactions that shape our community.
Pope Francis often reminded us that hope is not passive optimism but the courage to believe that our actions can make a difference. In this spirit, we encourage our students to approach each day with gratitude, resilience and a commitment to serving others, especially those on the margins.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership with the College. Your support strengthens the sense of community that lies at the heart of Mazenod. May we continue to nurture young men who lead with faith, serve with humility and live with purpose.
Arts Mass
The Mazenod College community recently gathered for the Annual Mazenod Arts Mass, a celebration of faith, creativity and the gifts that enrich our College community. This year’s liturgy was particularly significant as we blessed three new icons that now grace the College Chapel.
We thank all those who contributed to this special celebration and pray that these new icons continue to inspire our community to seek Christ and live out the values of the Gospel in the spirit of St Eugene de Mazenod.
Year 10 Holocaust Retreat
As part of their Reflection Day, our Year 10 students visited the Holocaust Institute of Western Australia and the Perth Hebrew Congregation, providing a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of Jewish history, faith and culture.
Through engaging with members of the Jewish community, students gained insight into the impact of the Holocaust, the importance of preserving human dignity, and the ongoing need to challenge prejudice and discrimination in all its forms. The visit also provided a meaningful experience of interfaith dialogue, allowing students to explore both the shared foundations and unique traditions of the Jewish and Catholic faiths.
Such encounters enrich our College community by fostering respect, understanding and a greater appreciation of our common humanity. As a Catholic school in the Oblate tradition, we are committed to building bridges of dialogue and encounter, recognising that authentic faith invites us to listen, learn and grow through our relationships with others.
We thank the Holocaust Institute of Western Australia and the Perth Hebrew Congregation for their hospitality and generosity in sharing their stories, faith and wisdom with our students.
St Eugene de Mazenod Pilgrimage 2027
Thank you to the students and families who have already expressed interest in the St Eugene de Mazenod Pilgrimage scheduled for Easter 2027. As the first school in the world to bear the name of St Eugene de Mazenod, this pilgrimage offers a unique opportunity to walk in the footsteps of our founder, deepen our faith, and strengthen our connection to the Oblate charism.
A reminder that confirmation of intention to participate is due by Tuesday 4 August. This will assist us with planning and the next stages of the pilgrimage process.

Community Mass
Each Friday morning at 8:00am, our College Chapel becomes a place of prayer, reflection and community as we celebrate the Mazenod Community Mass. Families and community members are warmly encouraged to join us as we begin the day grounded in faith and united in the spirit of St Eugene de Mazenod. All are most welcome.
Please note there will be no Community Mass on August 7 and September 4.
