YEAR 9 UPSKILL WEEK WITH ALUMNI

In the final week of Term 2 our Year 9 students participated in Upskill Week, an initiative designed to help them develop valuable life skills and explore opportunities beyond the traditional classroom experience.

On Wednesday and Thursday students were fortunate to hear from a panel of Frankston High School alumni including Charlotte Redey, Jude Katsianis and Charlotte Swinburne. As recent graduates, they shared honest and insightful reflections on their journeys after school. From beginning university studies and taking gap years, to working at Camp America, pursuing teaching careers and gaining valuable industry experience their stories provided students with meaningful insights into the many pathways available beyond secondary school.

The week concluded on Friday with a series of hands on workshops led by members of our generous alumni community. Students had the opportunity to develop practical skills and explore new interests through a range of engaging sessions including:

  • Jewellery Making with Jane Powell
  • Visual Storytelling and Illustration with children’s author and illustrator Nicky Johnston
  • Netball Skills with Renee Fox
  • Vehicle Maintenance with Robert Bleumink
  • Stage Performance and Magic with Lachlan Wilde

The workshops provided a great opportunity for students to explore new interests, develop practical skills and connect with alumni from a wide range of backgrounds and careers.

A sincere thank you to all of our alumni who generously gave their time to return to Frankston High School.

ABOUT THE ALUMNI PROGRAM

Frankston High School is continuing to grow its alumni program in partnership with Ourschool, a not-for-profit alumni program for state secondary schools and the first of its kind in Australia.

By connecting with the alumni program, past students can provide career guidance and work experience opportunities for current students, establish scholarships and bequests, or volunteer in lots of other ways.

Ourschool is working with Frankston High to help these things happen by growing the school’s alumni community and coordinating the involvement of alumni in the school.
