Dear Years 7 and 8 Parents/Carers and Students
Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all of our students and families enjoyed a safe and relaxing break and are looking forward to another exciting term of learning and growth.
Term 3 is always a busy and rewarding time at Frankston High School, with a range of exciting events, learning opportunities and important milestones for our students.
We began the term by celebrating NAIDOC Week, with students exploring its significance during their Optima lessons and participating in a range of engaging lunchtime activities. Our Year 7 students celebrated their 100 Days of Year 7 on Wednesday 22 July, while our Year 8 students have begun exploring and selecting their Year 9 elective subjects for 2027 an exciting milestone as they start shaping their future learning pathways.
2027 SUBJECT SELECTION | To support students and families, we have developed a year level-specific timelines, SEE HERE, outlining key dates and events related to subject selection.
We are also looking forward to celebrating the incredible talents of our students in this year's school production, Mary Poppins. We encourage our school community to come along and support our talented cast, crew and staff, who have dedicated countless hours to bringing this wonderful production to life. Opening Night is Thursday 30 July, and we hope to see many families there.
Supporting the wellbeing of our students remains a key priority. As part of this commitment, we are excited to welcome the Cyber Safety Project to Frankston High School later this term. On Wednesday 2 September, Junior School students will participate in engaging, age-appropriate presentations delivered by specialist educators, helping them develop safe, responsible and positive online behaviours while strengthening their understanding of digital wellbeing. On the same evening, we will host a Parent Information Evening, providing families with practical strategies for navigating today's digital world, including social media, gaming, screen time, online safety, privacy and promoting healthy digital habits at home. Further information, including session times and registration details, will be shared later this term.
As we begin the new term, we ask all students to recommit to our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy. Every student has the right to feel safe, supported, and included at school. We expect all members of our community to speak respectfully, act respectfully, and stand up for respect. There is no place at Frankston High School for bullying, racism, discrimination, harassment or physical behaviour such as play fighting or horseplay.
We are equally committed to recognising and celebrating the many students who demonstrate our values each day. Students who consistently show respect, responsibility, resilience and empathy through their actions, attitude and contribution to school life can earn House Points. Whether in the classroom, around the school grounds or through involvement in school activities, positive contributions help strengthen our school community. Students who receive House Points will also go into the draw to win prizes at our year level assemblies throughout the term, providing another opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate positive behaviour.
To ensure every student can learn in a safe, respectful and focused environment, we also remind students of our everyday expectations regarding attendance, punctuality, wearing the correct school uniform and ensuring mobile phones, smartwatches and earbuds remain switched off and securely stored in lockers throughout the school day. These expectations help create a positive learning environment where everyone can thrive.
We encourage all students to embrace the opportunities that Term 3 has to offer. Whether it's participating in House events, challenging themselves in the classroom, preparing for future pathways, performing on stage or supporting one another, every student plays an important role in making Frankston High School a welcoming, inclusive and successful community.
