Upcoming AusAlert National Test (emergency warning system)
We have been advised that a national test of AusAlert will happen across Australia at 2.00pm on Monday 27 July.
AusAlert is a new, national emergency warning system. It sends warning messages to compatible mobile devices during emergencies, to keep people informed so they can act quickly. The Australian Government plans to launch AusAlert in October 2026.
At 2.00pm on Monday 27 July, all compatible mobile devices will receive a Critical Alert.
Compatible mobile devices include phones, tablets, smart watches, safety watches and some vehicle devices. These will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like warning sound for about 10 seconds. This will happen even if they are on silent or do not disturb. The message will clearly state that it is a test. No action is required from the test.
To minimise disruption, student phones and smart devices should always be switched off and stored securely in lockers or bags during the school day. Students who use their mobile phone as part of a documented exception can continue to do so. If appropriate, they can turn their phone off during the test.

Safe phones
AusAlert may increase risk for people experiencing violence, especially if they live with someone who uses violence. Alerts may expose safety devices.
If you or someone you know has a hidden device, the best way to stay safe during the test is to:
- turn offyour mobile device or put it in aeroplane mode
- keep your device off or in aeroplane mode for 24 hours.
Silent mode and do not disturb will not stop the alert.

Child Safety
At Frankston High School, the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of every student is our highest priority.

Social Media Use Reminder
Families are reminded that there is now an Australia-wide restriction on social media use for children aged 16 years and under.
If students are found accessing social media platforms during the school day, the school may notify families.
We encourage students and families to learn more about these changes via the eSafety Commissioner website and the information available on social media age restrictions.
We also strongly encourage families to continue having regular conversations at home about safe and responsible online behaviour.
Allows parents/carers to stay in the loop with school news, enter absence details, see reports and make payments.

REMINDERS | No student pick-up or drop-off is permitted in the on-campus car parks. Please make arrangements with your child to organise a pick-up/drop-off location off-campus. Parking is available in the streets surrounding each campus.
CROSSING THE ROAD | REMINDER TO BUS TRAVELLERS
All students who travel to and from school via the public buses are reminded to only use the black and white ‘zebra crossings’ on Towerhill Road and Foot Street to get to and from bus stops, before and after school.
STUDENT SUPERVISION | BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL
Please be aware that teachers are on duty in the grounds on the:
7-10 Campus: from 8.30am until 3.40pm.
Senior Campus: from 8.00am until 3.40pm.
It is advisable for students to arrive at school after supervision begins unless they have:
- scheduled class time
- a planned activity (eg semper squad)
Please note that some buses leave after the conclusion of yard duty. Students are expected to behave in a responsible manner when in school uniform, before and after school.
STUDENTS WITH MEDICAL CONDITIONS
Parents are reminded to advise the school of any change in diagnosis and treatment of their child’s medical conditions immediately.
The school is prohibited from administering any over the counter medication, including Panadol and antihistamines.
If you would like your child to have access to these, or any other medications, you must have provided it, with your child's name and form, to the First Aid Attendant.

PARC has a teen specific Can Swim water safety education program coming up. This is ideal for students who have missed out on swimming lessons growing up, those who typically don’t join in on the school swimming carnival.
- WHO: Teenagers aged between 13 – 17 years old, suitable for beginners with little to no swimming experience or confidence. Our teen intensive program is designed for teenagers who have had little or no prior experience in swimming or water safety. This program teaches the basics of water safety and is a beginner step for teens to build confidence, learn basic skills and give reassurance in and around the water.
- WHAT: This 5-week teen intensive program is an opportunity for teenagers who have never had previous opportunities to learn how to swim or have very limited or no water safety skills or knowledge. Participants will gain confidence, learn essential water safety and survival skills helping them feel more comfortable joining friends in and around the water. The program supports teens to develop independence, make safer decisions and avoid risky situations in real-life settings whilst recreating in and around aquatic environments.
- WHERE & WHEN: 5-week program at PARC. Commencing week of Monday 17 August 2026. Running Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evening at 6.45pm.
- COST: FREE. Fully subsidised, thanks to the support of our partner Frankston City Council.
