Wellbeing Matters

We’re now halfway through the term, with Friendship Day behind us and more engaging whole-school wellbeing days, including Wear It Purple Day and R U OK? Day, coming up. Our new lunchtime clubs are continuing to grow and evolve, with the colder weather no doubt making indoor socialising options more appealing. In addition to these events and clubs, we continue to support young people and families through one-on-one counselling, liaison and referral to external services.
Wear it Purple
Friday 28 August
Wear It Purple Day is a national movement that aims to ensure LGBTQIA+ young people feel seen, supported, safe and accepted. It began in 2010 in response to the impact that bullying, discrimination and exclusion were having on LGBTQIA+ young people, with young people and allies coming together to show that no young person should feel alone because of who they are.
We will be marking this day by encouraging students to wear a touch of purple to school (hair clip, bracelet, scarf etc) and running a lunchtime event in the Canteen quadrangle in partnership with our Respectful Relationships team.
RUOK? Day
Thursday 10 September
R U OK? Day is a national day that encourages people to check in with each other and have meaningful conversations about how they’re really going. At school, it provides an opportunity to remind students that asking “Are you OK?” can help someone feel supported, connected and comfortable seeking help when they need it.
We will be running whole-school lunchtime events in the quadrangle supported by Headspace.
As part of our R U OK? Day program, we are also offering the Mental Fitness Program to all year groups in partnership with the Black Dog Institute (4-16 September).
