On Friday 14 August, one of our Unit 3 & 4 Food Studies students, Rose Marsh (Year 12), went head-to-head with teacher Ms Molina in the annual MGSC Cook Off!

Both competitors were given a mystery box of ingredients and just 45 minutes to create, cook and present a meal for our judges, Ms Cappuccio and Madi McWilliam (Year 12). This year’s mystery box challenge had a delicious theme: comfort food!

Ms Molina’s mystery ingredients were beef mince, cauliflower and orange, which she transformed into a comforting shepherd’s pie with orange carrots.

Rose was given chicken thigh, apple and pumpkin and tackled the challenge with an impressive feast of paprika-roasted vegetables, garlic and rosemary pumpkin and potato, and ginger-soy chicken. What a spread!

With both competitors producing fantastic dishes, the judging was certainly no easy task! After much deliberation, congratulations to Rose, who was this year’s Cook Off winner!

A huge congratulations to both Rose and Ms Molina for their creativity, skill and ability to think on their feet under pressure. Better luck to Ms Molina next year!
